Happy 牛 Year !!!
My great grandmother passed away earlier this week, she was 97 years old! The whole family was so huge, i met so many relatives i never knew existed. I also met my famous distant uncle who is the big boss of m)ph*sis. My mother ask him to give us discount hahahaha....
Anywayz, on a happier note! Happy CNY 2009 in advance :) "Happy 牛 Year...moo~~"
It was about 2 weeks ago when my mum and i decided out of no where and nothing that we should make some new year cookies...well, maybe i did say that i was craving for them. We went out straight after lunch to shop for all the ingredients and containers etc etc...

Came back, laid the table, started making almond cookies and cornflake cookies!

Roasting the crushed almond powder as we prepared for the cornflake cookies

This is my brother thinking he can be part of the baking team...

When he found out the truth...he face changed

Mean while my little brother lay sian-ly in his corner watching us bake...

This is our weighing machine...you pour stuff on it, it's one weight, you shake it a little, its weight changes, you shift the same amount of stuff around, its weight changes again....so really, we used our argaration to portion the ingredients.

The mixer

My mum and moi

We spent a long time sticking the cornflakes into the dough and squishing them into little balls.

When their done, we send them into the oven for baking :)

Crushed almond powder roasted!

My little brother can't eat those cookies, so he just sniffed as much as he could...

First batch done! a little dark though...but still really tasty!

When their cooler, we packed them into containers! The paper base in the container was really the one thing i dreaded to prepare, it's time consuming to cut it and have it press to the bottom.

Tadah....

We continued making more, and every lot turned out prettier than the previous lot we made!

Fresh out of the oven!

After we're done with the cornflake cookies, we started making the almond cookies.

Sent the first batch in for baking

When their done - they melt in your mouth! but look a little lifeless...

So we decided to not be lazy and follow the instruction - brush with egg yolk...

Tadah...taste just as good, and looks even nicer man...

We baked from about 1pm to 9.30pm! it was crazy, but very satisfying!

The cookies of our labour!

Birds In Lift
Ok, this morning when me and my da jie took the lift down to work, we heard birds chirping inside the lift after the lift door shut. We looked around, there were no birds to be found! It sounded like 2 birds, and it sounded damn loud.
Are the birds trapped inside? How did they get into the lift? Into as in inside the backend of the lift. Sure is strange.......
