Confessions of a Shopaholic

Haven't been blogging for sucha long time! Have experienced some pretty rough times the past few months, and hence, was not really in the mood for blogging ... and when i'm upset, i (1) stone or (2) binge eat or (3) go on a shopping high! --> Which explains the insane amount of things i bought recently!

And thus i have quite a haul here (at least to me) to share! These are mostly make up or skincare items, i'll prolly do another post for the other stuff: clay, books, magazines etc...

I've always been a make up lover, and ever since i got hooked onto youtube, i think i can safely say my love for make up (plus skin care) has transformed into an uncontrollable addiction! If you're wondering "say what?? youtube? what has that got to do with make up or skincare?" well, check out: fuzkittie, frmheadtotoe, FleurDeForce (just to name a few from the long list i am subscribed to, coincidentally, i realized the 3 youtubers i typed have user-names beginning with the letter 'f') and maybe after watching their videos for a month, you'll understand where i'm coming from.

I tend to "follow my heart" while walking around the beauty counters....which is pretty darn dangerous i'd say. Following my heart didn't exactly break the bank, but sure did make a deep deep dent.

I can't remember what i bought before the first item i'm about to show, so ... ya.

I recently bought The Face Shop's 'the flower' compact powder.

I got it in NB21, i think that's the lightest shade. It's almost colourless imo, and since it's a compact powder it gives very little coverage. The powder is extremely smooth and fine, which makes it very comfortable to wear. May turn out ghostly when too much is applied, always have bronzer on standby! It says on the box "formulated with edible petal extract and powders, this compact powder softens for a radiant finish".

Also bought some Skin Food wash off masks. If i didn't remember wrongly, a pack of 2 tubes is about $9.90 (don't quote me on this). Each tube is 50ml, and i really liked the idea of these trial size tubes so we don't have to spend a bomb on a full size (1 tub) mask we may not enjoy. So far, i've only tried the cucumber one, and i absolutely love it! I apply it all over my face after cleansing, leave it on for about 15-20 mins, rinse it off, followed by my fav yamano rose aloe vera, followed by DHC acne spot therapy. And when i wake up the next day, all my redness is visibly reduced.

Will report back with reviews on the other masks after i've tried them.

Anyway, this is my fav yamano rose aloe vera! It's like a toner cum moisturizer thing. I bought it from beauty language, and i think it's the only place to buy it in sg, cause i've never seen them being sold elsewhere. I bought it during the GSS quite some time ago, and it was on sale for $59.90 i think. Think it's expensive? well, that's what i thought at first, but this baby lasted me damn long la! i can't even remember when i bought it...and each time only need to use a tiny amount, plus, it's an awesome product (smells great too)! Great for people with sensitive to oily and combo skin (that's what the sa said).

Recently, i saw this in Watsons, heme's Rose 24hr Hydrating Instant Recovery Serum, think it was $20+, bought it and tried it a few times (can click on picture to read). My thoughts on this serum compared to yamano:

(Pictures: heme on top, yamano below)
Texture of heme's serum is more "liquid-y" while the yamano one is more gel like. Though heme's serum feels more lightweight on the fingers, it takes a longer time for my skin to absorb and leaves an uncomfortable sticky feeling afterwards. Also, heme's serum smells kinda funny...like wine? don't really know how to describe it, go to Watsons and try smelling it! Just dosen't smell as soothing as the yamano one. But i like that it can be applied even at delicate areas around the eyes and lips! Also, heme didn't break me out. Might have to try it a few more times to like it more.

Size comparison picture.

Also i mentioned the DHC acne therapy just now, it's actually the squuze tube on the far right of the picture on the right above. The picture above shows the DHC Salicylic Acne Series i bought recently from Watsons again (my fav store ever!). I think i bought it for about $16....and it's a good deal imo because the full size acne therapy only is about $20+ and the trial size in this kit gives a great deal of product too! Oh, and DHC acne therapy is my HG acne spot treatment, ok la, and prolly lab series too (i know lab series is marketed for men, but it works!).

Oh! and very random...i've cut my hair lol! chop quite a lot away, i've got bangs now too, but decided not to post any pictures of my new fringe, cause i think i look kinda funny ... maybe next time!

Moving on to a more interesting new buy! M.A.C's Wonder Woman collection! I had my eyes on the powder blush (specifically Mighty Aphrodite) for the longest time, and so on the first day of its launch in Singapore i went down to the Mac counter wanting to get my hands on it.

But i ended up buying Amazon Princess instead...i have no idea how i let the sa talk me into buying 2 Amazon Princess (1 for myself, another 1 a gift for someone). I did swatches on my hand at the store, and they looked really pretty, but when i got home and tried swatching them again, they look kinda dark for me, like a bruise! I got so upset at myself for not buying what i planned to buy, but thankfully, i was able to make an exchange :)

Quick look at the uber cute packaging!

(Pic on left with flash, pic on right no flash)
Here's Amazon Princess! (which i have exchanged for Mighty Aphrodite) I think this will be a very pretty colour for people with darker or cooler skin tone. Unfortunately i can't pull this one off.

Mighty Aphrodite!! The right choice for me afterall ...

Aaahhhh ..... more suitable for moi~~ I'm really into peach-y blushes lately.

The powder blushes in the Wonder Woman collection are much larger than the regular blushes, and unfortunately, we will have to pay for the extra product. I think i paid either $47 for Mighty Aphrodite, regular blushes cost $35.

I also bought my first ever Mac brush! 129! cost $61 ... but it's suppose to last super long....so....ya. It picks up product and applies on crazily well!

Also bought this Freshel makeup remover from Watsons....so far so good. No complaints :)

And this Freshel Moist Lift W Cream BB Cream. This bb cream gives very very little coverage, doesn't really help to cover up pores too, quite disappointed cause it's one of the very very few bb creams that actually is close to my skin tone (most bb creams are either too dark or too pink for me face). Think i'll only be able to use this when i have good skin days....

Comparision time! Left to right: Freshel Moist Lift W Cream BB Cream, Gowoonsesang Brightening Balm (aka Dr G), Missha Cho Bo Yang BB Cream in No.1.

(Pic on left with flash, pic on right no flash. Left to right: Freshel, Dr G, Missha)
As you can see, Freshel is the only yellow tone one, Dr G is too dark and a tad grey, missha is also too dark and pink tone. I've also tried Skin 79's bb cream before (the hot pink one) and that one is too dark too and grey too.

Slightly blended out...Dr G and missha one offers pretty good coverage though...maybe because their dark for me, so obviously they cover more....hmmm. Am trying to finish up the missha one so i can go collect my order of the famous Missha Perfect Cover bb cream in shade 13 (the lightest shade). Yup, if you are as pale as me, you gotta do special order, cause apparently, "majority of the people are not shade 13" (quote sa)........discriminate us ah? jk jk, pls still help me order k.

Next up, things i got from Etude House!

From the picture above, these are the freebies i got :) LOVE the mug!

Let's start off with the most interesting product i got! First Snow Ice Cotton Toner! and it definitely lives up to its name for being ice cold!

This product comes in a hairspray like bottle, and it comes out as a form, and you're suppose to massage the form on your cleansed face. The icy-ness from the form is suppose to help close pores. After the form is fully absorbed you will find white particles left, those are the cotton incorporated into the product, just throw them away! cool right ~~~ Haven't tried it out yet, will report back (hopefully with pictures). Click on the pictures to read more.

Also got this eye palette from the new tangerine collection, No.8 Miss Berry Berry. Comes with instruction on the back of the palette.

The inside of the palette. Gorgeous colours, very wearable! I usually wear only neutrals, i think this is my first coloured palette.....yup, it is. Love that it comes with a tiny brush thingy, good for blending.

Swatches! Pic on left with flash, pic on right no flash. Love the dark purple-ish brown-ish colour!

Also bought this lippy :) it's also from the tangerine collection. Miss Tangerine Sweet Shower Lips in No. 4.

Nice and cute packaging!

Picture on left with flash, picture on right no flash. Picture on right is a closer match to the actual lippy.

Close up of lippy without flash. You will have to twist the bottom to get more product out, but remember not to twist too much product out, cause once you twist it out, you can't twist it back.

Swatch! Picture on left with flash, picture on right no flash. This lippy feels extremely comfortable on the lips, feels like a lip balm, but glossier, but not as sticky as a lip gloss. Even my horrendously sensitive lips can take this, highly recommend. However, it can make your teeth look more yellow than it really is lol! and it is really orangey on the lips! if you like corals i think you'll enjoy this. I try to tone the orange down by "biting" on a tissue with my lips (dunno if you know what i'm talking about), and it leaves a nice orange tint.

Last but not least! Bought the limited edition Majolica Majorca mascara in BR666!

It's brown and very natural looking on the eyes. Check out how fiber-y it is! click on the picture on the right!

Here's a picture of my face to scare you lol! wanted to show you how the products will look on pale skin people like moi.

Face: The Face Shop, the flower compact powder NB21
Cheeks: Very light application of Mighty Aphrodite
Lashes: Majolica Majorca BR666
Lips: Miss Tangerine Sweet Shower Lips in No. 4

See ya!
